Released in theaters in May, Top Gun: Maverick continues to be a success at the box office. After breaking

the $1 billion mark worldwide, the production has now surpassed Titanic's numbers in the US.

According to Box Office Mojo, Tom Cruise's film currently has $662 million in the U.S., compared to Titanic's

$659 million. The number also makes the feature the seventh biggest release in the country.

Now the expectation is that the film can surpass Avengers: Infinity War. The Marvel production has a domestic

box office of $678 million, a number that can be surpassed by Top Gun: Maverick, should the film continue with good weekly earnings.

Top Gun: Maverick is the sequel to Top Gun: Top Gun: Top Gun (1986). In the plot, Cruise's character

is asked to mentor a new generation of Navy pilots, including Rooster (Miles Teller), son of Goose (Anthony Edwards), Maverick's partner who died in the original film.
