Shazam 2 director jokes after sequel is delayed
David F. Sandberg, director of "Shazam! Fury of the Gods," took to his social networks to make a mild
joke after the postponement of the sequel. Scheduled for December this year, the feature
film has been moved to March 2023, taking up the date selected for "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom."
And despite all the backlash about "Shazam! 2" premiering
in the same month as "Avatar: The Waterway," it hasn't intimidated the filmmaker.
"Doing the final mix on 'Shazam! Fury of the Gods. New release date is March 17 next year.
'Avatar 2' can have December, we can have IMAX screens. It's going to be great.
But Cameron definitely owes me a 4K release of The Abyss now," Sandberg joked in the caption.
"Shazam 2" promises to expand the story Billy Batson and the entire Shazam Family.
Although the synopsis has not been revealed, the script written by Henry Gayden ("Earth to Echo")
is expected to show the heroes embarking on a mythological adventure, which may be connected to the hero's own mythology.
