The man who killed Nicki Minaj's father, Robert Maraj, in a February 2021

hit-and-run accident is expected to spend a year in prison. According to TMZ, Charles Polevich was sentenced on Wednesday

after pleading guilty to two criminal charges: leaving the scene of the incident and tampering with physical evidence.

Polevich had his driver's license suspended for six months and must pay a $5,000 fine.

He was serving up to seven years in prison, but Judge Howard Sturim sentenced him to one year.

Minaj stated that her father's death was "the most devastating loss" of her life.

Robert Maraj died at the age of 64 after being struck by a car while walking on Long Island last year.

"I find myself wanting to call him all the time. More so now that he's gone.

Life is funny that way. May his soul rest in heaven. He was very loved and will be greatly missed," Nicki stated at the time.

Police reported that Polevich fled the scene and tried to hide the crash vehicle in a garage away from his residence.
