Mattel's plans now include a line of toys "to infinity and beyond. The company, maker of Barbie, has reached an agreement with billionaire

Elon Musk's SpaceX to produce dolls with a space theme, from astronauts to rockets. The goal is to "conquer the explorer in every child".

"We take pride in our ability to create products and experiences that honor cultural moments and inspire

humanity," Nick Karamanos, Mattel's Senior Vice President for Entertainment Partnerships, said in a statement.

But the new line, which hits stores in 2023, won't just be focused on little space explorers. It may get into the sights of collectors.

The company said it will simultaneously launch space exploration-inspired toys on Mattel's

Creations, a direct-to-consumer platform that typically offers limited editions as well as high-end toys and other items.

"At SpaceX, we believe that a future in which humanity is among the stars is

fundamentally more interesting than one in which it is not," said Brian Bjelde, vice president of SpaceX.
