Batgirl is officially canceled by Warner

According to a report from TheWrap, Warner Bros. Discovery has decided to cancel Batgirl in its entirety. In other words, there will be no cinematic release or release on HBO Max.

The feature film, which was given the green light under a previous studio regime, had been announced as exclusive to the streaming platform, but in recent months, producers had considered putting it on the big screen.

Due to health protocols on set, its budget is estimated to have jumped from $50-60 million to $90 million.

David Zaslaz, CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, is striving to make every DC title “gritty,” like a cinematic event, and Batgirl didn’t fit into that.
